How to make a fun DIY birthday hat!

Hey everyone!
Been meaning to post this awesome DIY birthday hat that I made my nephew's 2nd birthday.

All I used for the above project is the following:
  • Sheet of Yellow felt- Michaels $0.49- 30% discount= $0.35
  • Sheet of blue felt- Michaels $0.49- 30% discount= $0.35
  • Package of assorted pompoms- Dollartree $1.25
  • Big pompom from home craft supply
  • Sheet of  12 x 12 cardstock from home craft supply
  • Hot Glue Gun/ Glue Dots
  1. I first grabbed a large bowl and traced it onto the 12 x 12 cardstock sheet.
  2. I then cut a small ''slice'' of the circle out leaving a small triangle out of the paper.
  3. Next I traced the circle with the slice out of it onto a piece of yellow felt. Then cut the felt out to match size of the paper.
  4. Next I folded the circle of paper into a cone shape and held the sides together with glue dots under each flap.
  5. Then I wrapped the felt around the cone, using glue dots to keep them in place, and cut off the excess felt for a smooth finish.
  6. Next I hot glued each pompom onto the base of the hat, alternating colours.
  7. Then I hot glued the big pompom on the top of the hat.
  8. I practised my 2s and ended up getting my husband to draw the 2 onto the felt for me because of my poor penmanship LOL
  9. Cut out the felt 2 and hot glued it onto the centre of the hat.
And Voila! Perfect Birthday Hat!
You can also add some string by punching holes in the sides between the pompoms for a more secure hat.

Hope you liked this project!
Happy Crafting! <3
